Self-drive the Atherton Tablelands

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is a 7.5-kilometre scenic tourist cableway running above the Barron Gorge National Park, in the Wet Tropics of Queensland’s World Heritage Area in Australia.

It operates from the Smithfield terminal in Cairns to the Kuranda terminal on the Atherton Tableland. It has won more than 25 awards.

Kuranda Heritage Markets

Once you’re in Kuranda the Kuranda Scenic Rail or Skyrail Rainforest cableway can be experienced along with a visit to the Kuranda Heritage Markets…which is a must.

In Kuranda you can see Bird World, Koala Gardens and enjoy a delicious lunch at a fine selection of boutique restaurants, cafes and bars. Then don’t forget to purchase some fine tropical fashions at the bespoke outlets and the Heritage Market where you can browse the stalls and purchase plenty of souvenirs. (Open Wed to Sun).

The Great Barrier Reef, Cairns

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,300 kilometres over an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometres.

Choose from an array of activities available with a vast majority of operators. Dive, Snorkel, Sail the reef. Choose to depart from Cairns, Palm Cove or Port Douglas.

Cairns Aquarium

The Cairns Aquarium is the first public aquarium built in Australia this century, and is home to more than 16,000 specimens and 10 ecosystems.

Situated in Cairns, it features the convenience of a unique restaurant for lunches and snacks.

Fitzroy Island

Fitzroy Island, home to Fitzroy Island Resort, is a 45-minute boat transfer by the Fitzroy Flyer (about 30kms) from Cairns in Queensland and is surrounded by a reef system that forms part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, making it the perfect accessible base for snorkelling, kayaking, diving and exploring the reef.

You can experience Idyllic beaches which lead into the safe, sheltered waters, which are also ideal for swimming and water sports as well as yachting and boating.
